At the start of her academic career, Dr. Farmer graduated with her medical degree from the University of Zulia in Venezuela in 1990. She then went on to perform her residencies at Dr. Luis Razzetti Hospital (1993), Hospital Vargas of Caracas / Dr. Jesus Yerena Hospital (1993), and Jackson Memorial Hospital (2014).

Specializing in women's health, the doctor is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG).
